Years ago I met Robert Plant through my father. Daddy used to be a sale rep for a guitar company and he often brought musicians home with him for dinner with the family. My mom is an awesome cook and fabulous hostess. We would have a gourmet dinner and then sit around the living room and play music, sing and dance for hours. I had a wonderfully fortunate childhood.

Robert’s new album is coming out in a couple of weeks. I can’t wait to buy it. I love the first single they just released, called “Angel Dance.”

Yesterday we finished loading the moving truck and we are ready to head south. This morning I gave the house keys to a trusted friend who can work with the real estate agent on our behalf. Its a sad day for my family.

No Job Offers

My husband has been doing his best to find another job, but nothing has worked out so far. I guess we will have to start packing and head back to Tennessee. At least we have a nice house back in Nashville that is paid for and in a nice neighborhood. The house can be put up for sale for about the same price as what we paid for it. We just can’t make the mortgage payment without my husbands income.

Not a a Happy 4th

I’ve always loved the Fourth of July. It’s a day off with family and neighbors, picnics or barbecues, parades and fireworks.

But this year, we just found out that my husband has been laid off from his job that brought us here to Chicago. He only has a week or so to find another job here with comparable pay, or we are going to have to move. We’ve only been here about two years and I was just starting feel settled in. I don’t want to move again – I like it here.

So while the rest of the country is celebrating, we are searching the online job sites and starting to think about packing.

Ethnic Festivals

This whole area is a melting pot of America. There are so many different ethnic groups and neighbors, that we can have exploring all the customs and foods of a different country every weekend. The summer brings a lot of great ethnic festivals. I’m looking forward to the festivals, with music, dancing, great foods and all kinds of bazaars.

Over the next several months there will be so many places to see music played it will boggle the mind. The CMA Music Festival is this June as well as the big concert at Bonnaroo. Today it is rumored that Jimmy Buffett and a couple other major acts will be at Bonnaroo this year. It would almost be worth the mess and the huge ticket price to see him. I am glad that I am not going the wait to get in is several hours and they search you and your car most of the time, a big hassle for sure.

More troubles

After I got the brakes repaired on my truck a couple of days later I went out to get in my truck to head to work and it would not start. Things seem to go in threes and I do not see an end in sight. I have had to drive the little truck “Stubbie” to work the last few days and I can not wait to get my own truck back into service. I hope when I get it fixed this time it runs for a while with out breaking down, that would be a very good thing for sure.

Today my baby sister turned 46 and I am very proud of how she has handled getting older. Much better than I have I turn 50 this year and it is driving me crazy. Just the thought of getting older and not being able to do everything how I would like anymore is driving me crazy. I will keep plugging along and keep as busy as I can and try not to turn old if I can help it. I think your as young as you feel and today I am 103+. Maybe tomorrow I will be 18 again, lets hope for that.
